Built by someone who’s spent two decades asking how skin actually works.
Pure Skin Health was founded by Sommer Shiels — a health journalist and documentary director who has spent close to twenty years covering medical science and longevity, and who also directs Pure Skin Labs, a cosmeceutical manufacturer that has formulated skincare for doctors and clinics for over 15 years.
That combination — years spent asking clinicians and researchers what actually works, paired with a lab that already builds for them — is what shaped Sommer Skin, and later PureSkinLabs and our Telehealth program.
From the newsroom to the formulation bench
Before Pure Skin Health, Sommer’s work sat at the intersection of journalism and health science — years spent interviewing researchers and clinicians about what genuinely moves the needle on skin and aging, long before it became a brand.
Pure Skin Labs is founded
A cosmeceutical manufacturing lab built to formulate professional-grade skincare for doctors and leading clinics — the same lab that would later become the backbone of our own product lines.
Two decades in health journalism
Sommer builds a career as a health journalist and documentary director, reporting on medical science and longevity — work that continues to inform how our brands are formulated and communicated.
Sommer Skin launches
The Curcumin Mask is created to bring a clinic-grade active formula — Ayurvedic ingredients paired with modern cosmeceutical technology — into an at-home ritual.
Pure Skin Health comes together
Sommer Skin, the PureSkinLabs GHK-Cu system, and our licensed Telehealth program join under one roof — one place for products and care, built on the same standard.
Formulated for real concerns, not trends
Sommer’s approach has always been to go to the source — cosmeceutical labs and the clinicians they supply — rather than chase whatever’s trending. That’s why our line stays narrow: a small number of well-studied actives, done properly, instead of a routine with more steps than answers.
